Biography

Sarah Elizabeth Rogers was born in 1778 and lived through the founding era of the United States and the early decades of the republic. Her long life allowed her to witness the nation's development from its infancy through the Civil War era.

Rogers lived to the age of eighty-eight, passing away in 1866 after the conclusion of the Civil War. She was buried at Washington Street Cemetery, her life representing nearly a century of American experience.
