Biography

Seldon Connor, born in 1839, rose from a youthful enlistment to serve as a Union Army officer, earning recognition for his leadership at many critical engagements and the trust of fellow soldiers.

After the war he led Maine as governor and later guided public institutions with the same integrity, leaving Forest Grove Cemetery to remember a statesman whose courage in uniform matched his calm stewardship at home.
