Biography
Thomas Charles Byde Rooke (1806–1858) was a merchant of considerable enterprise whose commercial ventures and business acumen contributed to the economic development of the Hawaiian kingdom during the mid-nineteenth century.
His success in trade and commerce reflected the growing international connections of the Hawaiian islands. Rooke was honored with burial at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii.
