Biography
William H. Upham, a veteran of the Civil War, parlayed his leadership into a successful business career before being elected Governor of Wisconsin in 1895 and guiding the state through a period of economic growth and reform.
He remained active in veterans' organizations and civic causes after leaving Madison and was honored at his burial in Hillside Cemetery.
