Biography

Wilmot Brookings was a pioneer in spirit and deed, helping to bring order to the Dakota Territory and lending his legal and political training to the task of building new communities. He played a key role in the founding of the town that now shares his name and in establishing the institutions that would serve its citizens.

Even after his active political years he remained a trusted elder statesman, encouraging progress while remembering the sacrifices of those first settlers.
