Alatau Tamchiboulac Atkinson (1848-1906) arrived in Hawaii with a passion for education and journalism, helping to organize public schools and share news through newspapers that informed a growing community. His leadership encouraged literacy and public dialogue across the islands.

He rests at Oʻahu Cemetery, where his efforts in educating future generations continue to be honored.
