Biography
Bill Anders rose from the United States Naval Academy to become an astronaut on Apollo 8, where he helped pilot the first mission to orbit the Moon and captured the now-iconic Earthrise photograph that forever shifted humanity's view of our planet.
Following his pioneering spaceflight, he continued to serve as an ambassador and advocate for science, energy, and education, leaving a legacy of curiosity and service that is honored by those who visit the United States Naval Academy Cemetery.
