Biography

Chief Joseph, born in 1840, rose to prominence as the venerable leader of the Nez Perce people, guiding his community with compassion and unshakable resolve. His measured voice and eloquent appeals for justice during the tumult of the late nineteenth century earned him admiration both within and beyond his tribe.

After years of advocating tirelessly for his people, he found his final rest at Nez Perce Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of dignity, courage, and enduring hope for the harmony of all nations.
