Biography
Edward Simpson (1860–1930) spent his life in naval service, sailing with the fleet and serving in shore assignments during a time when the Navy transitioned to a global presence. He carried out a variety of duties, from watchstanding at sea to overseeing maintenance and readiness ashore, always mindful of the sailors who relied on his decisions.
Colleagues remembered him for calm counsel, meticulous attention to detail, and for standing quietly beside the Naval Academy community; he now rests at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery.
