U.S. Senator
Biography
Floyd K. Haskell spoke up for Colorado as a U.S. Senator from 1979 to 1985, often standing apart from partisan pressures to champion environmental safeguards, campaign finance reform, and civil rights. His legal background and activist heart made him a conscientious overseer of federal programs, always mindful of the voices of ordinary citizens.
Before and after his Senate service he engaged in community advocacy and the practice of law, continuing to press for justice with the same thoughtful energy he brought to Washington, and he is now remembered at Arlington National Cemetery. He was known for humility, wit, and an unwavering belief that public life could uplift others.
