Biography
George Wythe Munford, born in 1803, was a planter who also gave voice to Virginia through poetry, essays, and correspondence, weaving together the practical work of the farm with the pleasures of letters.
He opened his home to neighbors and civic endeavors, lending his pen and his presence to causes that strengthened Richmond's cultural life, and he sleeps today at Hollywood Cemetery with the quiet dignity he carried through his days.
