Biography

Major General Henry Warner Slocum Sr. earned acclaim for his command of the XII Corps at Gettysburg and his reliable judgment across numerous Civil War battles, emerging as a respected military leader.

After the war he continued to serve the nation through public engagements and veterans’ affairs, and his memory is preserved at Green-Wood Cemetery.
