Biography
Jeremiah Van Rensselaer was a landowner of considerable means in the Albany region, representing the established Dutch and English landed gentry of the Hudson Valley. His property holdings reflected the wealth and influence of the Van Rensselaer family, one of the most prominent families in New York history.
Van Rensselaer's life was rooted in the agricultural and commercial prosperity of the region. He was laid to rest in Albany Rural Cemetery, where many of the region's most influential landowners and civic leaders were interred.
