John Davidson

Biography

John Davidson (1825–1881) served the United States as a military officer during a time of national crisis, bringing calm determination to the difficult task of leading men in battle. His contemporaries noted his steady hand in managing both tactical situations and the well-being of the soldiers entrusted to him.

After the war he continued to support the restored Union, carrying forward the discipline and character that had defined his service. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, where his memory endures among those who gave so much.
