Biography
John Lucas Miller, born in 1829, devoted himself to public service in South Carolina before the Civil War. He answered his state’s call, serving in capacities where an ability to think clearly under stress was valued by soldiers and citizens alike.
Miller fell in 1864, and his remains were interred at Hollywood Cemetery. His memorial stands as a reminder of a life given in the midst of his state’s greatest trial.
