Biography
John Stricker led Maryland militia with calm courage, most notably in the defense of Baltimore during the War of 1812 when his troops held their ground at North Point and inspired the city to stand firm.
His service and steady leadership endeared him to neighbors, and his memory stands at Westminster Hall and Burying Ground as a reminder of the sacrifices made in that trying hour.
