Biography

John W. French, born in 1843, rose through the military ranks and earned respect for his steady leadership and commitment to instruction, guiding young officers through the tumultuous years that followed the Civil War.

He took pride in preparing the Army for future challenges, instilling discipline and integrity before being laid to rest at West Point Cemetery.
