Biography

Joseph J. Clark, born in 1893, became the first Native American to reach the rank of four-star admiral, leading carrier forces through critical battles across the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He continued to shape naval strategy and mentor sailors in the decades that followed, and the Navy honors his legacy with his burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
