Biography

Jules Tavernier brought to life scenes of the Pacific, rendering Hawaiian volcanoes, coastline, and people with a romantic realism that introduced many on the mainland to the islands’ luminous beauty.

He mentored local artists, shared sketches with students, and helped to form a tradition of landscape painting that honored the unique light and character of Oahu, leaving a body of work that still inspires.
