Kamāmalu was a Hawaiian royal of the early 19th century, born in 1802 into the ali'i nui class during a transformative period in Hawaiian history. She lived during the reign of Kamehameha I and witnessed the significant changes occurring in the Hawaiian Islands as foreign contact increased.
Kamāmalu's life, though brief, was marked by her status within the Hawaiian royal hierarchy. She passed away in 1824 at the age of 22 and was interred at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii, a sacred repository for members of the Hawaiian royal family.
