Biography

Keawe-a-Heulu was a distinguished Hawaiian chief who lived an exceptionally long life spanning from 1701 to 1804, witnessing over a century of Hawaiian history. Born in the early 18th century, he lived through periods of significant change in the Hawaiian Islands, including increased foreign contact in his later years.

As a member of the Hawaiian ali'i class, Keawe-a-Heulu held considerable status and influence throughout his life. His remarkable longevity allowed him to serve as a living connection to earlier Hawaiian traditions and governance. He was honored with burial at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii, reflecting his importance to the Hawaiian royal lineage and cultural legacy.
