Maria Beckley Kahea

Biography

Maria Beckley Kahea (1847-1909) bore witness to the rich traditions of her Hawaiian heritage while also serving in the royal household with grace and hospitality. Her presence at court helped preserve cultural dignity during a time of great change.

She rests at Oʻahu Cemetery, where many continue to remember her kindness and dedication to the islands’ people and traditions.
