Biography

Paul Neumann, a German-trained lawyer who came to Honolulu as a young man in the 1860s, served the Kingdom as attorney general and as minister to the United States, defending Hawaiian sovereignty with reasoned advocacy.

His counsel and steady presence in turbulent years helped guide negotiations and everyday governance, leaving a record of fidelity and compassion as he was laid to rest at O'ahu Cemetery.
