Biography

Swan Turnblad built the Svenska Amerikanska Posten into one of the most influential Swedish-language newspapers in America, and his leadership helped bind Minnesota's Swedish community together with news and cultural pride. His commission of the Turnblad Mansion, now the American Swedish Institute, gave the community an architectural jewel and a museum dedicated to heritage.

Turnblad used his business success to support charitable causes, educational programs, and the preservation of immigrant history, ensuring that the stories of his generation would be honored by future Minnesotans and visitors to Lakewood Cemetery.
