Washakie

Biography

Chief Washakie (1800–1900) led the Shoshone people with courage and wisdom, guiding his people through shifting landscapes and new challenges.

He is remembered for his integrity, for maintaining peace while protecting the rights of his family and tribe, and for the dignity with which he carried every obligation.
