Alex Weyand first earned national acclaim as a standout guard on the Army football team before turning his focus fully to a distinguished military career that spanned both world wars.

As a brigadier general he blended the discipline of the gridiron with the demands of leadership, mentoring cadets and soldiers and helping to preserve the proud traditions of West Point for future generations.
