Biography

Bolling Walker Haxall, born in 1814, built a flour business that became a pillar of Richmond's prosperity, employing many neighbors and sending Virginia grain to distant markets with a careful attention to quality.

He invested the fruits of that enterprise in the city's wellbeing, supporting churches, hospitals, and other charities, and Hollywood Cemetery holds him now beside the community he helped to nourish.
