Biography
Étienne de Boré gained recognition as the planter who first perfected sugar granulation in Louisiana, transforming the region’s agriculture and helping establish sugar as a cornerstone of its economy. His innovations brought prosperity and helped the colony assert itself among international markets.
Later he served as mayor of New Orleans and continued to champion infrastructure and education, and he now rests in Saint Louis Cemetery No. 1, a figure of both industry and civic pride.
