Biography

Furry Lewis (1893-1981) was a Memphis bluesman whose fluid guitar picking and storytelling voice were captured in early recordings and cherished by audiences from Beale Street to folk festivals.

He later mentored younger musicians, shared memories of the blues' roots, and helped ensure the music's endurance before being interred at Hollywood Cemetery.
