Biography

George E. Albee joined the Union Army as a young man and rose through the ranks to lead cavalry forces with resolve throughout the Civil War. His leadership continued in the postwar years as he served in the regular Army, guiding troops through the difficult years of reconstruction and frontier service.

After decades of upholding the nation’s safety, he retired with the gratitude of those he led. His memory rests in Arlington National Cemetery, where it reminds visitors of a lifetime of measured steadiness and duty.
