Ira Coray Abbott

Biography

Ira Coray Abbott served the Union Army with unwavering dedication throughout the Civil War and afterward, displaying courage and compassion for his men. His steady presence and knowledge of tactics earned him the trust of commanders and comrades alike.

He continued to serve his country with the same devotion in peacetime, and upon his passing in 1908 he was interred at Arlington National Cemetery, where his memory remains among those who preserved the Union.
