Biography
Jabez Lamar Monroe Curry began his career in law and politics but became widely known as a champion for public education, working tirelessly to build schools and train teachers in the postbellum South.
He later served as a U.S. commissioner to Spain and carried forward his belief that education could heal divisions, and Hollywood Cemetery is now a place of quiet remembrance for his hopeful vision.
