Joshua Kaeo

Biography

Joshua Kaeo (1808–1858) was a Hawaiian chief of considerable influence during a transformative period in Hawaiian history, serving his people through leadership during significant political and social changes in the islands.

Kaeo's legacy reflects the complexity and dignity of Hawaiian leadership in the nineteenth century. He was honored with burial at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii, a sacred repository for the kingdom's most distinguished members.
