Biography
Kaōanāeha (1780–1850) was a Hawaiian chief of the highest rank whose lineage and authority reflected the ancient traditions and genealogical prominence of the Hawaiian islands during the early nineteenth century.
His long life spanned a period of profound change in Hawaiian society, and he maintained the dignity and responsibilities of his chiefly station. Kaōanāeha was interred at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii.
