Biography
Lloyd J. Beall, a West Point graduate, served his country as a U.S. Army officer before resigning in 1861 to lead the Confederate States Marine Corps, dedicating the war years to organizing the new service, training its ranks, and defending Richmond's waterways.
After the conflict, he remained in Richmond, quietly supporting veterans and his fellow citizens until his death, leaving a record of disciplined leadership honored at Hollywood Cemetery.
