Charles Chaillé-Long

Biography

Charles Chaillé-Long served the nation as a soldier and diplomat, beginning with Civil War service and continuing through later assignments in the Army and at foreign posts, always mindful of the sacrifices of his comrades.

A historian and author, he recorded frontier experiences and the voices of soldiers so their stories endured even as he found his final rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
