Biography
Dan Christie Kingman rose through the ranks of the Army Corps of Engineers with a keen mind for the nation’s waterways and a belief that civil engineering could unify and protect communities. His oversight of river and harbor improvements reflected his deep respect for the men who worked under him and for the civilians whose lives depended on safe commerce.
He also treasured the bonds formed among engineers, valuing mentorship as much as the technical plans he produced. With his interment at Arlington National Cemetery, his career is remembered as one that married discipline with imagination to keep the nation linked together.
