Biography

Nathaniel D. Wallace built a reputation as a thoughtful merchant and civic leader in New Orleans, navigating his businesses through the challenges of the postwar economy while earning the trust of his fellow citizens.

Elected to serve Louisiana in Congress, he championed the interests of the port, pressed for federal support for infrastructure, and kept in mind the needs of working families until his health failed and he was laid to rest at Metairie Cemetery.
