Peachy R. Grattan

Biography

Peachy R. Grattan, born in 1801, devoted his legal training to serving Virginia's courts, faithfully compiling the opinions of the Supreme Court of Appeals with clarity and care so that the law might be known to every practitioner.

He balanced this duty with a generosity of spirit, mentoring young lawyers and sharing his time with civic causes, leaving Hollywood Cemetery as a peaceful witness to the integrity with which he served the capital.
