Biography
Leleiohoku I was a Hawaiian chief of royal descent who lived during a transformative period in the Hawaiian Islands. Born in 1821, he represented the traditional leadership of his people during the early 19th century.
His life spanned the early years of Western contact and cultural change in Hawaii. Leleiohoku I was laid to rest at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii, a sacred site honoring the islands' royal lineage and heritage.
