Pauli Kaōleiokū

Biography

Pauli Kaōleiokū was a Hawaiian chief born in 1767 who lived during one of the most transformative periods in Hawaiian history. He witnessed the arrival of European explorers and traders, the consolidation of power under Kamehameha I, and the profound changes these events brought to Hawaiian society, culture, and governance.

As a chief of considerable status, Pauli Kaōleiokū played a role in the political and social structures of his community during this pivotal era. He passed away in 1818 at the age of 51 and was honored with burial at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii, reflecting his importance within the Hawaiian royal and chiefly hierarchy. His life spanned a crucial chapter in Hawaiian history.
